"I love this picture. Very serene and sense of calmness."
"I love the industrial feel of this. Where is it?"
"The composition on this is just superb! love the blueness of the water."
"Those scholler photos are cool, but we love your photos the best."

1,209 comments, 1,077 photos, 2 years, 11 months, and few days later
what have I learned from the online photoblog experiment I called
Pixonomy.com? Well it's great to know that people "love" your photos.
As Robert Adams writes in Why People Photograph:

"Artists sometimes claim they work without thought of an audience—that
they make pictures just for themselves. We are not deceived. The only
reward worth that much effort is a response, and if no one pays
attention, or if the artist cannot live on hope, then he or she is
lost."

So thank you to everyone that has visited this site and posted a few
encouraging words. However, I feel it's time to try something new and
evolve what I am doing. So over the next few months the site will be
on hold as I decided what my next steps will be. Stay tuned....

I fear the message light on my work phone. You never know what the message might be, especially late on a Friday. Stuff like clients needing projects done by Monday, which means working the weekend. Fortunately, I was able to escape this fate tonight.

Didn’t get home this morning until 5am because our flight was severely delayed out of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Just added to a tough trip full of bad weather and a lot of bad luck. Still there were many highlights – reaching land after a seasickening voyage to Culebra, dining on fresh fish at Mamacitas, drinking Medallas from our hotel balcony as the waves crashed on the beach, and occasionally getting a glimpse of the sun.

Took the ferry today from Fajardo to Culebra. Weather has not been too good in Puerto Rico this weekend. Still raining today and the sea was pretty rough. We were trapped below deck as the boat bobbed and swayed through the crashing waves. Not exactly an enjoyable ride. So I was very grateful to land on the Island of Culebra.

Had front row seats tonight at the New York Theatre Workshop to see Mikhail Baryshnikov in the Beckett Shorts. The GF wasn’t a big fan of the bleak Beckett plays, but enjoyed a close up glimpse of Baryshnikov in his boxers. To me Beckett’s message is about our ability to endure and survive, even if it means simply moving forward one mundane and often meaningless step at a time.

Just read a review of Michael Pollen's new book "In Defense of Food". Sounds like a sad manifesto of the American diet. A quote from the book reads, "Fast food is precisely the way you'd expect a people to eat who put success at the center of life, who work long hours (with two careers per household), get only a couple of weeks vacation each year, and who can't depend on a social safety net to cushion them from life's blows."

So I've been dating this beautiful girl since September, yet I never mention her on the blog or post her picture. Seems odd I suppose, however blogging about my private life has never been the goal of this site. My objective is simply to practice my photography by posting a daily picture, which might convey my perspective -- often trivial but occasionally entertaining. Next month will mark the 3 year anniversary of Pixonomy.com. At which point I think I'm going to try something new. Maybe scrap the blogging concept in favor of a portfolio web site. We shall see....
