To me Christmas, Chanukah, Diwali, or any of the winter religious fests represent to me the concept of finding light during times of darkness. Everything is gloomy, dark, and depressing during these wintry days so we need something that offers hope (i.e., light at the end of the tunnel). I try to remind myself that spring is not too far off, but inevitably the arctic winds and dark nights beat me down. All I could think about tonight was getting home and going into hibernation.
