Sort of ironic that I always criticize Americans when they travel
abroad only to eat at McDonald's or stay at the Marriott. Sure I
don't patronize these chains, but then I too seem to seek out familiar
places. Guaranteed that every trip I look for a good pub, a pool
table, and neighborhoods that are similar to New York's East Village.
So am I really discovering the true identity of places I visit, or
trying to find foreign reflections of my taste?
